Tried to find some guidelines for this question but I fail.
We are planning to use a decentral adapter
engine and we have some
questions were we can't find any answers in the
internet.
At the moment we are using a PI 7.31 SP10 Dual Stack
installation.
Which version can I use for the dAAE?
a) same as the
central PI installation (as a must)?
b) can I use the most current version
which is SP14 and is it downward
compatible?
When installed, how must
we plan future updates?
c) first the central PI and afterwards the dAAE?
d) first the dAAE and then the central PI?
e) doesn't matter?
Thanks for
some information in this case,
Dirk
Hi Dirk
Your questions can be fully answered in the following SAP Note. Differing versions of the dAAE (either lower or higher) are possible but only for specific use cases. The note specifies all the different use cases so you need to check that against your purpose of installing a dAAE.

HI Dirk,
First of all you have to read carefully the SAP notes about the installation allowed depending your PI version:
1795870 - Connecting PI to a Decentralized Advanced Adapter Engine
1314855 - Configuration Wizard: PI-AF initial setup
This blog can be helpful http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-administrator/blog/2012/04/24/install-and-configure-netweaver...
AFAIK you can install lower versions of dAAE of your PI central adapter, but if you have not AAE developments in lower versions it is always better to have the same version that the central adapter version. About upper versions, i have no idea, you can wait another SCN members answers.
