Hi
This question is with respect to shelf life planning :
What exactly is the system doing APO PPDS when it is planning based on shelf life? Is the system considering the shelf life days and keeping those in planned order created, so that these can be transferred to production order/stock when created?
Appreciate if any one can thrown light on this.
Hello K A,
If a heuristic for planning standard lots (for example, the standard heuristic SAP_PP_002 or SAP_PP_SL001) should consider the shelf life conditions during planning
The stock or receipt element must have completed the maturation time by the requirements date
The stock or receipt element must keep until at least the required minimum shelf life of the requirements element
The stock or receipt element may keep at most until the required maximum shelf life of the requirements element.
For more details please refer consulting OSS note
563863 - Planning with shelf life as of APO 3.1

Thank you Rupesh. The note is very informative.
I found the answer: Here is what the system is doing while creating planned orders.
A requirement can only peg to a receipt if the following preconditions are met:
Requirement time + required maximum shelf life >= receipt time + shelf life
