OEE calculation in SAP ME 15

Hi Experts,

I am trying to calculate OEE in SAP ME. I have a shop order with 10 qty. I have released 2 SFCs. I have set OEE traget % as 95 and Standard Cycle Time as 8 hrs. Now I ran two SFCs from required Resource and Operation. I got some results in OEE report. I want to cross check the results with below formule and know how internally MII calculates OEE.

  • Availability Efficiency = Equipment Uptime / Total Time
  • Operational Efficiency = Productive Time / Equipment Uptime
  • Rate Efficiency = Theoretical Time for Actual Units / Productive Time
  • Performance Efficiency = Operational Efficiency * Rate Efficiency
  • Quality Efficiency = First Pass Yield
  • OEE = Availability Efficiency * Performance Efficiency * Quality Efficiency

And also I did not understand this example calculation, how they taken 720 units started and Production rate as 50 units.

Example Calculation

• The granularity period is Day, so the Total Time is 24 Hours

• The resource logs show that the resource had an uptime of 24 Hours, so the Equipment Uptime is 24 Hours

• Availability (%) = (24 Hours / 24 Hours) * 100 = 100%

• From the Production Log we know 720 units were started, so the Total Units Started is 720

• The Scheduled Production Rate is 50 Units per Hour or 0.02 Hours/Unit

• The Scheduled time for 720 units is (720 Units) * (0.02 Hours/Unit) = 14.4 hours, so the Theoretical Time for Actual Units is then 14.4 Hours

• Performance (%) = (14.4 Hours / 24 Hours) * 100 = 60%

• From the production log, we know that, of the 720 units started, only 684 were completed, so the First Pass Yield is 684 / 720 = 95%

• Quality (%) = First Pass Yield = 95%

So, for that production day

OEE (%) = 100% * 60% * 95% = 57%

It would be good if somebody explain with simple example.

Hi Eswar,

I revised that example and it seems to contain faulty calculation.

Theoretical time for actual units should be 684*0.02 instead of 720*0.02. Only completed SFCs matter here.

Performance(%) = 684*0.02/24 = 57%

Overall OEE = 100% * 57% * 95% = 54.15%

I think this will help you understand the calculations.
