Hi,
What are all the livecache environment variables present in SCM system and vice versa.
how the livecache client connects with livecache from the SCM system.
we are planning to bring up the lower version SCM 7.0 & Livecache 7.7 to higher version SCM 7.0 EHP3 & Livecache 7.9 by restoring data of them
manually...what other things to ensure.
Thanks in advance
Hi Daniel,
SCM will use maxdb dbsl, then dbsl will call maxdb client to connect liveCache. In other words, SCM uses full functional SAP kernel to connect liveCache, so it is very hard to say what all the liveCache
environment variables present in SCM system. Most of the environments are for both liveCache and SCM.
We can restore a 7.7 maxdb data to a 7.9 maxdb without any problem, but if the it is liveCache, we
CANNOT simply restore a 7.7 liveCache data to a 7.9 liveCache. You have to refer to SCM upgrade to perform this action.
How did you know you can use restore to manually upgrade SCM and liveCache?
Best regards,
James

I will upgrade the live 7.7 to 7.9 first and then restore the backup of another 7.9 system on the upgraded livecache.
Both are same versions, wont be problem for the restore.
since the SCM 7.0 is getting upgraded to SCM 7.0 EHP3 just with the datacopy of SCM 7.0 EHP3 by restore.
just thinking any other should be done for livecache client.
Thanks in advance
Hi Daniel,
In that case, the restore would be fine, but you have to make sure the SCM is the same.
Because the data in liveCache is almost from SCM, so if the SCM is different, then the restored
data in liveCache may not work.
In addition, you need to update maxdb/livecache client. Please better refer to the SCM upgrade guide.
Best regards,
James
