Hi Gurus,
I am an abape'r and have a question i mind from quite sometime.
Suppose i have interface requirement.. How do i decide which of the above options i will choose suppose i have to design an Interface ( Feasibility check and design ).
Any pointers to Documents or material will also will be welcomed.
Thanking You In Advance.
Navin Fernandes.
Hi Navin,
First of all, do you have a PI as middleware?
If you don't have PI, the best and quickest way, in my opinion, is to offer a RFC as webservice via SOAManager.
If you have PI, Eng's blog is well explained, and you can check the different ways to do it. Also you can read the other members thoughts in that blog

It is preferable that at an architectural level, there is already a fixed approach on what to use, i.e only IDoc or only proxy. SAP themselves are recommending proxy for all new interface developments and also using that as the basis of all their Enterprise Services.
But if there is none in your organisation, you can check out my opinion on the blog below - P.S. read through the comments part as well.
