Hi, What is the use of Sales document indicator in a Sales Document? When is it used? How does Sales document indicator Option B and C function?

Hi Mukund,

When ever you do F1 help for this field you will get the description as "Sales document indicator (for display in TVAK only)"

This field has been designed for what it says. Display in TVAK only.

You can use it for sorting or search or filtering purposes when working in VOV8. It's a way to classify your sales document types.

Sales document Indicators are for controlling the various sales documents defined in the system. Document types allow the system to process different kinds of business transactions in different ways.

The standard version of the SAP R/3 System includes a variety of pre-defined sales document types. You may also define your own. Examples of sales document types include: IN - inquiry, QT - quotation, OR - standard order, etc.

Hi Anil,

Thank you. I appreciate your quick response.

But, this sales order indicator is, I am sure, used for a different purpose. There are some controls that come in to the sales order with these indicators. For example Customer Service will use Indicator 'F' which will give them additional controls like a repair button and tab page in the sales order screen. In a similar fashion B and C are used. Just wanted to know what is the use of these.

Hi

If you go into table TVAK - each indicator value only brings up one doc.so that for example if you gave the field value as B- delivery order, and the doc that has this indicator is a TAM, so in document processing for these special processes this field is used to affect the way the document behaves.It is used only for the more unusual doc types like deivery order,scheduling agrements.OR does not use it!

What do you mean by document processing, is it selecting the document type from a table and how does the behaviour differ with the value in this field??? Can you be a little more explanatory.
