Hi Team,

We have been using Business Objects XI 3.1 about 6 years now.

Currently , All the users and user groups are configured in Windows AD , and users use Infoview to access the reports.

Our company is undergoing a change of Active Directory Domain. Like below.

     1. Current Domain name : AD2

     2. Current Domain name : OLAD

As part of  Active Directoy Migraion , we expect something like below

AS-IS settingsTO-BE setting
AD2/botestuserOLAD/botestuser
AD2/BO_DEV_USER_GROUPOLAD/BO_DEV_USER_GROUP

Requirement is to have the settings of each user to be same before and after the AD migration.

I am not sure on how to approach this.  Could anyone help me on this.

1.In there any tool?.

2.Do we have to delete and recreate all the users and usergroups?.

Please help me on this.

Shiv,

You need it do this in couple of simple steps:

  1. You will need create Enterprise Aliases for ALL your users
  2. You will need to make sure ALL security has been properly applied to Enterprise Groups. You may need to create Enterprise Groups and drop AD Groups within.
  3. Update SETSPN settings to reflect the new FQD
  4. Update the krb5.ini to reflect new Domain
  5. Update FQN / Domain settings within CMS to reflect new Domain

If you desire that all user data (personal folders, favorites, etc) is saved I would suggest creating enterprise aliases to ensure nothing is removed. After that if the user names remain the same you can simply re-sync them to get the new users attached.

Check KBA 1401058 - How to create Enterprise aliases for LDAP or AD accounts

If it is just domain name change, you don't need to remove the users. You need to make the change on BO side (KRB5.ini) to reflect new domain name.

Check the below link.
