Very bad performance of NWBC in IE11

Hello colleagues!

I've faced with a bad performance of NWBC in IE11 after update to NW7.02 SP16 GRC10 SP18. According to the pam IE 11 is supported.

When I log in and try to create an access request I get a picture with slow circle

(the message at the bottom of the window indicates that I've switched off all security settings and plug-ins)

After 1-1,5 minute I get a normal screen

If I try select an entry from any drop list or perform any other actions the window hangs with information (Not responding)

Has anyone experienced the same problem in GRC or similar products?

My search results for this issue were not successful.

I suspect that the problem is in NWBC, because webgui works fine, and hope that someone can provide with the corrections.

I've tried to use httpwatch, but it hasn't shown any useful information. I only identified that big time consumption happens when load one page (see below)

Could any one advice how to resolve the issue ?

FYI:

We resolved the problem with an MS support specialist.

SOLUTION

  • We have set the following key to the following locations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_FORCE_NATURAL_TEXT_METRICS]

"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_FORCE_NATURAL_TEXT_METRICS]

"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_FORCE_NATURAL_TEXT_METRICS]

"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000

  • We set it in the Local Machine as well to ensure that for all users logged we will have the value read.

  • After applying the key and restarting IE it seems the performance to work correctly.

Regards,

Artem

Hi Artem,

I been in the same place for months, we were looking all kind of solutions, finally, here is your solution. Just include this Registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_FORCE_NATURAL_TEXT_METRICS]"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000

Enjoy

Hi Miguel,

Thank you!

Yes, I found the same in the new version of the note

http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2099080

However, we still interact with MS regarding this issue.

When we finish I let you know.

Oh didn´t know SAP finally documented. Happy to see that. Months ago we were struggling with SAP and MS during months until they finally found the solution and shared it with us. It was about time (near 3 months!) that they documented it.

Good news indeed.

SAP support says that it's a bug in IE. SAP has opened a ticket in MS regarding this issue.

I'll post the solution on this issue.

Does the application have any active content such as ACF which would require Java?

Hello Samuli,

No, seems the application doesn't have ACF.

Make sure that Unified Rendering was properly updated, see SAP notes 2121085 and 2090746 for details. I believe there is a difference between running NWBC for Desktop which embeds the IE control vs. running NWBC for HTML.

Hello Samuli!

I've implemented all corrections up to Corrections for unified rendering 702/17 VII.

Program WDG_MAINTAIN_UR_MIMES shows the following output:

Previously I had 7.33.3.68.0.

So, I don't know what else can do... If I roll back to Explorer 9, the problem disappears, however another user with IE9 experiences the same problem. FF works fine.

Could you give me please another idea to resolve the data?

Artem

WDG_MAINTAIN_UR_MIMES output looks correct to me. What is the NWBC for Desktop version and patch level that you are using? At least NWBC 4.0 PL13 is required for IE11. What about the NWBC runtime in the backend? Latest version is PL43. If everything checks out, the only advice I can give you is to create a customer incident to component BC-FES-BUS or BC-FES-BUS-RUN and share all the information you have shared in this discussion thread. Someone from SAP support needs to remote to your system using WTS and look into the problem. If you are feeling confident about finding out the reason for the hanging requests yourself, you can look into .
