User decision on partial stock

Hi Gurus,

I've seen some postings in regard to partial GR and early inspection in PP but not specific to this issue.

The user process goods receipt for a PO from external vendor for QM stock, let's say for 20 quantities.

The QM user wants to make the UD in the inspection lot only for some materials in the lot (the material is serialized), let's say only for 10 serial numbers and wants to process the remaining at later time.

Is this achievable with inspection type 01? Could we partially process the inspection lot, post the goods movement for the 10 serial numbers and re-process the inspection lot for the remaining quantities?

Thank you.

Hi Cyrus,

I think, you are interested in moving the stock of 10 PC (10 Sl No) form Quality Stock to Unrestricted stock, and then process the remaining 10 PC (remaining 10 Sl No) with UD. Isn't that correct? Even if your case is related to 'Early Inspection', you will have to associated your inspection lot to GR, so that stock is build in this inspection lot only and it do not create a new inspection lot. Isn't that correct?

Now I believe as per standard SAP, you have two choice -

1. Make two individual GR of 10 PC (10 serial Numbers each. It will create 2 inspection lots for inspection type '01'. Then you can put UD for the 1st insp lot and after some days based on your need, you can put UD for the 2nd insp lot. Everytime you put UD, the stock will be moved with MvT 321 to unrestricted use for UD = A.

2. Make a GR of 20 PC (20 Sl No) and create one inspection lot. Now in QA11, you go to inspection lot stock posting tab, put 10 PC stock to unrestricted stock, try to save it and do not use UD code = A. While you try this process, system will ask you to add the Serial Numbers you wish to move form Q-stock to Unrestricted stock. Then save. At this point of time, if you Check MMBE, you will see 10 PC in Quality and 10 PC in Unrestricted stock, whereas, if you check MB51 you will see 321 MvT happened for 10 PC only (10 Sl No). Now based on your convenience, you can again use QA11 and post UD = A for the remaining 10 PC (10 Sl No).

As your case is related to creation of "Early Inspection Lots" you know well in advance like what is the quantity getting produced at the end and stock associated with the process. So, you can control the creation of these inspection lots at the start only, to uncomplicated the process. Means, if you need 2 insp lots at the end, you can create 2 inspection lot at the start and post stock in these lots.

The other tricky suggestion will be if you wish NOT TO CREATE MULTIPLE '01" TYPE INSPECTION LOTS BEFORE to avoid recording results multiple times, and you wish to control this at the end of the process, you can follow the below approach. You can create one 89 inspection lot to record the inspection lot results. You should now pass this result recorded inspection lot number as a batch characteristic in the classification, and keep creating new inspection lots to store logistic stock quantity. Now the new inspection lots of type "01" created will have stocks (based on your need), have the reference of the previous early inspection lot in batch classification.

Thanks,

Hi Arijit,

Thank you for invaluable input, I followed your 2nd option that you presented and it worked like a charm.
