oData VS REST - Comparison

Former Member

Hi Folks,

in the last months I worked a lot with UI5 and as recommanded by SAP, I've used oData for the connection.

Now I'm facing some limitations with it.

I've discussed it with other persons who told me that they are working only with REST.

That's why now I would like to create a kind a comparison on both connections: advantage and drawbacks.

I've created a survey and I would much appreciate if you take time to answer the 6 short questions:

http://53tpak.findmind.ch

Please forward the link to colleagues and partners.

At the end, I will put the result on the SCN.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Hello Matthieu,

is OData versus REST a direct comparison?

OData is a RESTful protocol. That is, all OData is REST, but not all REST is OData.

For the survey question, "Are you using oData or REST?" if you are using OData, you are using REST.

Scott

Hi Scott,

Yes you're completely right. My question is maybe not precise enough but I think most of the people will understand my question

Actually, are you using oData or not? And why or why not?

Thanks for your comments.

Best

Well, to be honest I don't understand too... as Scott mentioned, OData is REST, so if I'm filling in your survey, I should fill in the same for OData as for REST

Or did you mean to ask REST vs SOAP?
