SAPGUI 7.40 closes when I try to connect

SAP GUI 7.40 closes and theres nothing ...

not even error messege when I try to connect to a server.

I even reinstalled my windows 7 (clean) then installed sapgui 7.4

then tried and it did not work,

So, installed Patch level 1 and tried and did not work.

Then installed PL1 hotfox 1 and tried and did not work...

I am using Windows 7 64bit SP1.

Searched SCN and googled everywhere and did not solve my issue.

Can someone help me?

How do I access the attached note 1387962? When I click the link it takes me to the KPI catalog and roadmap viewer.

Do I need the "s" log-in username to access notes?

Hello Martina,

It's always advisable to rollout a small pilot number of users first to test the water.

32 and 64bit OS's should run equally well, 64bit more so because of the extra memory handling by a 64bit OS.

Patch 2 is expected to be released around the 20th March (patches have usually a 3month gap between releases).

There is a procedure for this which involves using the adplus debug software from Microsoft, which you need to download.

The complete process is outlined in the attached note:

You need to raise an incident for this in the servicemarketplace.

It would be very helpful if you have captured this adplus dump for us.

I need also the SAPGUI 7.40  64-Bit Version on Windows7 for some clients.

Does this issue still persist? Is it a program error in SAPGUI 7.40?

Hello Martina,

There is no 64bit client version for 7.40.

The 32bit client can be installed on 64bit OS's

thanks for the answer. It would be interesting for me if there is an known issue with SAPGUI 7.40 and 64-Bit clients. We want to rollout SAPGUI 7.40 SP1 on 90.000 clients (32-Bit and 64-Bit Windows7)
