Hi,

Here you need to specify correct volume to restore the backup.Kindly refer SAP Note  17163 - BRARCHIVE/BRBACKUP messages and codes

& can consider below from same

BR0216W Wrong volume %s in device %s, should be %s

BR0216W Falscher Datentraeger %s in Geraet %s, sollte %s sein.

BR0216E Wrong volume %s in device %s, should be %s

BR0216E Falscher Datentraeger %s in Geraet %s, sollte %s sein.

Explanation:  You inserted an incorrect volume in the backup device. The volume name was determined automatically. The program requires that you accept this proposal.

Program reaction:  Waits for the user to insert the correct volume (BR0216W) or processing to terminate (BR0216E).

User action:  Insert the correct volume and continue the operation or repeat the processing.

Gaurav

Hi,

Regarding the "invalid username/password" issue, please check carefully the below SAP KBA for troubleshooting 1576837 - "ORA-01017: invalid username/password".

The "Lock period not expired" message indicates that the volume inserted in the device is still physically locked. As outlined in SAP Note 17163 -"BRARCHIVE/BRBACKUP messages and codes" (section BR0217W and BR0217E) please ensure that expiration period is configured correctly.

Hi,

I changed expired date as 0

Volume name changed successfully

but now brrestore showing new error as:

"Wrong creation data 2000-01-01 00.00.00 for volume SNDB25 in device /dev/rmt1.1

How to resolve it?

former_member207186

Hi,

This indicates that the creation date in the label is wrong, the volume was not described during the backup that you want to use for restore. As outlined in SAP Note 17163 -"BRARCHIVE/BRBACKUP messages and codes"  please ensure that the correct volume is inserted and repeat the process with a correct volume.

Is I need to stop sap as well as oracle db for restoration?

Hi Gaurav,

I checked with IT team.

Now issue resolve with command :" tctl -f /dev/rmt1 rewind"

After executing command "brrestore -b bepzaykb.fnt -m full"

following error occurs

Wrong volume ICPB25 found in device /dev/rmt1.1, expected SNDB25

How to rename tape volume to SNDB25

How to rename tape volume to SNDB25

as mentioned earlier you cant change/rename the tape volume, please insert the correct volume in the tape drive. you can check the tape drive volume by using 'brtools -q' command.

Hi Devendra,

Now issue resolve with command :" tctl -f /dev/rmt1 rewind"

Is restart of tape drive hardware did magic for you ?

Wrong volume ICPB25 found in device /dev/rmt1.1, expected SNDB25

You may need to re mount the tape or re label the same.

Hi,

Is I need to change initSND.sap file?

No need to modify initSND.sap file here,as issue is not related with the specified file.

I execute command tctl -f /dev/rmt1 rewind

waiting for result.

If output is still under process to give us results, than surely you need to consult with hardware vendor here or need support from Hardware team at your end.

You could try a workaround by restarting the tape drive here & can re check with same command.

is I need to take copy of file initPRD.sap to snd system?

Restore doesn't requires to replace or copy of init<SID>.sap into the systems.

Could you share result for command

tctl -f /dev/rmt1 rewind

please insert tape labelled SNDB25 in rmt0.

you can check the tape 'brbackup -q' command.

Former Member

make sure you attach the log file and not copy/paste. This is bit difficult to read the log as text format.

please check you have SNDB25 tape volume in the tape drive.

Thanks sunil for reply,

when I execute command "lsdev -Cc tape" it shows following details;:

rmt0 available

rmt1 available

**rmt0 is sandbox tape and rmt1 is prd online backup tape

which tape name should change as SNDB25

how to check volume of tape via aix command and how to rename it as SNDB25.

I copies .fnt file of prd to sandbox path /oracle/snd/sapbackup... and change into file sid of prd as SND

find the attachment of error log
