Hi friends

I want to change physical structure  in controlfile.i know we can't change directly controlfile.so i used  sql command to create control file (alter database backup controlfile to trace) then i changed and moved to three locations (oriloga,orilogb and sapdata1) but database not identifying this files .what i need to do changed controlfile to database readable?

have you created the control file again from the trace file?

startup data base in no mount mode and execute the @filename command. Make sure have correctly modifed the control trace file.

Hi Sateesh,

As mentioned by Sunil, Do start the Database in No mount mode and then run the SQLcommand.

Also in order to get the control file recognized, did you modify the init<SID>.ora of your DB to point to new locations and then ran the SQL?

As the controlfiles location has to be manitained in init<SID>.ora and then you need to chek the new location doesnt consist of any other same names files like cntrl<SID>.dbf files if you have any rename or move  them.

After whichyou need to start db in No mount and run the SQL.

Update us on the status after you run through the steps.
