Result of the VMI SNP calculation impacts our internal SNP calculation

Hi

We´re running VMI with a customer in a separate VMI SNP Planning Area, and when running the Heuristic the result impacts our own internal SNP calculation even though our own internal SNP is running in another planning area.

Situation:

1. VMI DP:   The result of the statistical forecast calculation in the VMI DP Planning area triggers a demand of 100 pc.

2. VMI SNP:  These 100 pc are released to the VMI SPN planning area.

3. Once the projected stock in the VMI location (still in the VMI SNP Planning Area) cannot cover the future demand, the Heuristic generates a Distribution Receipt (Planned)"

So far so good.

4. Internal SNP: This "Distribution Receipt (Planned)" now also visible in our DC (in our internal SNP Planning Area) as "Distribution Demand
(Planned)" - I believe it´s because the source on the Receipt is our own DC!

We do not want the VMI result to impact our own SNP calculation.

Any idea on how we can avoid this ?

- one solution could be to run the VMI SNP in a Simulation Version, but that seems to be a huge extra task.....

Thanks

Claus Thielsen

Hi,

Looks like the plant is sourcing from both from the Vendor and the DC?
(Though it's strange that it also sources from DC. Do you thin this is the correct model of yours?)
Anyway, you should try some setting to make the vendor with higher priority, e.g. using quota or set priority on the t-lane.

Best Regards,
Ada

Why confuse the issue?   SNP is not planning area specific.

You can use as many planning areas you want, but the demand / supply at a plant (DC) will exist in every planning area.

VMI demand may exist in a specific planning area if you enter the demand as a time series object.

Otherwise, it is not planning area specific.

Hi Claus,

If you don't want to see the dependent demand, you can blocked the transportation lane, this way you will not see the replenishment order in your DC coming from your VMI process.

Kind Regards,

Hi  Thanks for your answer

We do need the transportation lane as we do create VMI STO´s based on this offset.  The problem is the planned orders which the Heuristic creates out in time - they are visable for our own DC as an extra demand.  Please remember that the forecast on our DC allready holds the demand for our VMI customer.

One option could of cause be to delete planned orders outside a specific horizon...
