Change SIDADM name

Hello Team,

we have SAP HANA SPS9 with multitenency configured. Now say the tenant DB SID is DHI(this is the default DB that got converted to tenant) so the SIDADM name is DHIADM but we want to rename that user to PHIADM.

Is it possible? if yes what is the step by step procedure?

Hi Amol,

Yes, this is possible. You can do it via the resident hdblcm tool (/hana/shared/SID/hdblcm) -> system rename option.

Hello Stephanie/Nicholas,

thnx for u r response I got your point of renaming SID but will it create a corresponding <SID>ADM? so in my case if I am changing the name from DHI to PHI so this utility wil create OS level PHIADM user as well?

Yes, it will create a new user with its home dir and its env.

the procedure does not apply to tenant databases, manual states that the procedure only works for databases created by hdblcm, only the systemDB will be found

Anyone found out how this can be achieved on the tenant DBs ?

It worked with hdblcm as well, some times the .profile file gets corrupted as well......but it worked for me
