Requirement is I have to install Central instance on one server (Node A) and

Database server on another server (Node B), this cluster will be active-active mode.

kindly give me solution - how to install this and configure the cluster for the same

Hi Anwar,

I have finished installation succesfully, but while CI installation i found that it is installing on Physical hostname. I want CI to be installed on Virtual hostname.

please guide me how i can do this.

one more thing i would like to ask is in case of failover happens the already connected users gets disconnected and they have to re-login again, I want to avoid this, is there any way by which we can achieve this.

Thanks & Regards,

Abdul

Hello,

For proper cluster configuration please refer the followings.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_cluster

and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_%28file_system%29

http://www.clusterhelp.com

And if failover has happend , already users who are connected got disconnected.

It is not possible to users automatically switch over to other node !!

Maintain separately in this situation.

In this

Logswitch time at Primary Site has been configured at 10 minutes ( Minimum or It depends ) which means every 10 minutes log will be switched at Primary node, shifted to DR site and applied (recovered).

This process will run continously except for link disruption or Database halt.

Note: Points always encourage me to reply !!

Hi Abdul Jabbar

You choose the local disk where you want to install the CI. do not enter the shared disk for the A(SCS) instance.

This is requirement of CI isntallation.

Users will be logoff during the stop cluster not on moving cluster

Hi,

I will write precisely about my scenario..

I have to install SCS+CI on node A and DB on node B.

when i am executing sapinst from the installation master DVD , there i can see HA , further i am using AS Abap.

Note: In my scenario there is no dialog instance installation.

when i go this i can see options like :

Central Services Instance for ABAP (ASCS)

First MSCS Node.

Database Instance

Additional MSCS Node

Enqueue Replication Server

Central Instance

Dialog Instance.

please explain me which of these i have to install in Node A and which is on node B.

and on which node I have to install MS SQL server 2005 ( ;hope have to install on shared disks.)

what are the prerequistes to be taken before starting.

Please reply me quickly I have to start the productin server cluster.....

thanks in advance.

Hi Raju,

Thanks for your valuable suggestion..

I have to use two different nodes (servers) for clustering

but my cluster is active-active it means when application server fails then this node should move on to database server node (server).

For the above scenario what are your suggestion for installation. I will be highly thankful if you could tell me step by step procedure.

Thanks is advance.

Hi Abdul,

The active-active installation with 2 nodes is the standard MSCS installation described in the SAP instguides.

So as the others suggest, just follow the SAP instguides then you are done.

Hi Abdul Jabar,

MS Cluster does not support to Active+ Active Configuration, MS Cluster basically using for the Failover between two servers, which we called the Active+Passive Configuration.

IP requirements

Heartbeat= 1 private IP requied

Public Lan= 2 PUBLIC lan IPs for both Node

Cluster IP= 4 Clusters IPS

1) Clustering the SQL server database Software from Node A, it will auto install on Both Nodes

2) Clustering the SQL SP1 from Node A, It will auto install on Both Nodes.

3) Install the Central Service Instance for ABAP (ASCS) on SHARED (S:\kernel)

4) Install the Central Service Instance for JAVA (SCS) on SHARED (S:\kernel)

5) Configuring the First MSCS Node from Node A

6) Installing the DB Instance on Shared (F:\; L:\) from Node A

7) Configuring the Additional Cluster Node from Node B: on Shared disk

😎 Installing the Enqueue Replication Server on Local Disk

You have to perform the installation at least four times, for each A(SCS) instance on both MSCS Node

9) Installing the CI on local disk on Node A

10) Installing the DI on local disk on Node B

Hi,

You can do the MSCS Cluster Installation on the MSCS Cluster. In my scenario, it was a 2 node cluster environment and OS is win 2003.

1. Install the OS then latest service Pack.

2. Install the Cluster software

3. connect to the Shared Disk

4. Configure the shared disk as disk drives in both nodes

5. Once both node contain same drve information then

6. Install the MSSQL software

7. Install the Service Pack

8. Install the SAP Central Instance & Database Instance

9. Cluster the SAP central Instance

10. Do the post installation checks

Check the guides how to install the SAP in MSCS in

http://Service.sap.com/instguides. Also refer to the SAP notes mentioned inside the guides and download the latest guide.

that's it Done.

If it is useful give points

go to service.sap.com/instguides to find out the guidance. I am sure there is a section on the installation guide convering the cluster-based installation.

Hi Rajat,

Can you be more clear on this, can you give me installation guide or sap notes which guides me to do installations as well as Cluster configuration

one more thing which I forgot to write in my previous thread that my database is MS Sql.

Thanks,

Abdul

Hi Abdul

There are two kinds of clustering .One is J2ee clustering at SAP instance level and second is microsoft clustering at OS level.

To go ahead i would suggest first do a OS clustering and then do SAP clustering.Any issues feel free to ask
