Hi,
Considering the fact that SAP system is not available for external carriers, in that case whats the best option for the carriers also to exchange information about event updation and tracking/monitoring freight orders. Is collaboration portal the best solution or is it that carrier portal needs to be integrated with SAP EM system.Kindly share your suggestion
Dipak,
Unless the carrier is a mom and pop carrier it's best to simply integrate their normal process with SAP EM via EDI message i.e. X12 214 or 315s.
If the transportation is handled via your own trucks then I would put a handheld in the drivers hands and have the integration of the app done with SAP EM using SAP Gateway and OData services.
The new SAP EM 9.2 provides a Fiori app that allows this to be easily achieved.
Thanks
Kevin

SAP EM is flexible enough to allow any option to connect to a carrier. What you'll find is that EM is a large, flexible toolkit that his many plug-in points to all integration at a process level as well as at a user interface level. Yes, email integration would be available through a PI interface and collaborating through their portal would also be possible through web service / proxy integration.
Hi,
as written in another post:
Check this here:
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-59428
and this:
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-60761
for the Fiori App features.
Best regards,
Steffen
You would write a rule set activity that makes a proxy call to a PI interface that uses an email adapter to craft an email to the various carriers email addresses (receivers). For the inbound PI can use the same email adapter to take a structured response and map it to an appropriate EVMSTA IDoc for processing in EM.
Straight from the book: "
A SAP Fiori Application for SAP EM data is now available as of SAP EM 9.2. This transactional Fiori app gives details of SAP TM freight orders that are monitored using the SAP EM Freight Order Visibility Process ODT40_TO. It also allows the user to report events. The app allows a user to trigger SAP JAM collaboration activities, SAP’s social networking tool. The app can be called from any of the analytical apps for Freight Orders delivered with SAP Smart Business for event management. The SAP Fiori App serves as a template for providing another interface in to SAP EM data but its intended audience is the occasional user. The SAP EM Web UI remains the interface of choice for the power user. SAP Fiori applications have been delivered for the LTL shipment scenario as part of SAP Smart Business for SAP Event Management. See section 2.7.3 for details.
Hi Dipak,
Use EM webUI profile for carrier event reporting .
Steps :
1) Build common WebUI profile and WebUI transaction for carrier event reporting.
2) Create the EM filter profiles and assign it to Carrier user in EM.
3) Create new security role only with carrier number from freight order .( activity specific to new carrier reporting)
4) Assign the new security role to carrier user account in EM.( activity specific to new carrier reporting)
5) Expose the EM WebUI transaction URL in CP, and link the CP carrier user account to EM user account (try single sign-on)
Sample Custom portal screen.

Sukumar
