Hello, We are using SAP AFaria 7Sp5 as our device management tool. We are successfully managing and deploying in-house enterprise apps to Android and iOS devices. Currently we have a new requirement to deploy in-house enterprise applications on the Windows phone 8.1/8 devices. We need assistance as the file extension of the apps are .appxupload /.appx and in the windows enterprise apps application policy we get a prompt as "Required XAP". Please help.

Hi Tushar,

Can you ask your developer to recompile that application and generate an XAP file?

Files with extension appxupload/appx should be uploaded to Windows Store.

Thank you,

Hello Mirco, Thanks for the info 🙂 Are the .xap file extensions supported in the WidowsPhone 8.1 devices as APPX packages are apps for Windows Phone 8.1 and later, whilst XAP packages were used up until Windows Phone 8. Still we will have to check with our developers. Thanks, Tushar Shetty

Windows Phone Silverlight 8.1 apps have still xap extension. Better if you talk to your developer ...

Hello,

In Afaria the Windows Phone app is required as a XAP file. You have to compile the app as a XAP file, as a Windows Phone project, using Visual Studio.

For deploying Windows Phone enterprise apps the Afaria client for Windows Phone is mandatory. Additionally it is mandatory to sign the enterprise company application. The application must be

signed with the same code-signing certificate that was used to sign the Afaria client.

Please find further instructions how to sign and deploy Windows Phone enterprise apps in the SAP Afaria knowledge base.

Dear Volker,

We are also facing a similar issue with a big Middle Eastern client, where we have created a metro App for a 8.1 tablet ( using WinJS & extension as .appx )

Now Afaria isn't accepting anything other than .XAP , which is like a deadlock for us ,as visual studio doesn't give us an option to package this as XAP.

Also the link that you posted above isn't opening up.

Request you to help us with this scenario, will we be able to support appx files distribution with Afaria ( any patch or anything )

this is hampering our business continuity ,so appreciate your help on this.
