SMB backup fails - Invalid or uninitialized partition found

Hi,

In our system scheduled SMB backup starting to fail.

It shows an error like this;

BR0278E Command output of '/usr/local/bin/bcv/SAP-SPLIT.sh /oracle/PRD/sapbackup/.bepvhlli.lst':

NWSegMgr:

Invalid or uninitialized partition found on drive sdx.

You can initialize this disk by answering YES to the following question, but you will later need to commit this change when you exit from evms. Committing this change will cause any existing partition information to be discarded and an empty partition table created on the drive.

If you choose NO, you should exit evms and correct the problem on the drive.

Question: Would you like to initialize the drive and discard any partitions currently on it?

evms_activate: Responding with default selection "No".

NWSegMgr:

Invalid or uninitialized partition found on drive sdw.

But, from the same system we are getting a daily online backup. (using brtools). It is executing successfully

In ths case , What would be the reason to fail the Split-mirror backup?

Is it some issue with the scripts or some issue with the storage

Configuration is as follows;

Backup tool - HP Data Protector & brtools

DB-Oracle 10.2.0.4 , O/S - SuSE

Error log files are attached with this....& looking forward for your guidance

Note - Before the day where SMB backup fails , we have changed a power unit of the EVA server! Will it make an effect to this failure.

regards,

Zerandib

Hi Zerandib,

evms_activate: Responding with default selection "No".

Surely an issue with your EVA server here.Could you share results or log file

(may be evms-engine.log) by following command

evms_activate -d debug

I also suggest you to consult with EVA server team for the issue.

Regards,
