Error : Cannot get lock to generate next idoc outbound message number

Hello SAP Guru,

I am getting this error while processing multiple IDOC ,

Error while idoc number db operation: Cannot get lock to generate next idoc outbound message number

Can any one please suggest why we are getting this error and what is the solution to over come this error

This setting I am not sure whether it will effect other interface , But can we know what exactly with this setting, I am not able to find any clear blog or thread related to this error

Hello Sridhar ,

I think because you are creatign multiple idocs this lock issue is happening.

1. Seek help from ABAP team. They can put some wait in between subsequent Idocs posting in the program that is actually responsible for creating the idocs.

Some ABAP command like : WAIT UP to XX SECONDS.

2. Change the partner profile setting to not to post idocs immediately. This way all the idocs will stay in ECC with Status 64. After that you can use another job like RBDMIDOC to post the 64 status idocs.

You have to try and test both approach.

But is this Basis issue, or issue related to ECC IDOC posting, But when I checked with ABAP team delaying might not be solution , Since we are posting more than10,000 IDOC's in some cases
