hi expects,
i want to know about communication channel in sap xi.please help me
Hi Rohit,
A communication channel is used to define the way to communicate for the messages/interfaces/files and other related stuffs. Here we set the various properties for communication such as type of adapter as per the need, sender/receiver channel, path of sender/receiver and many other properties that varies according to the selection of adapter.

Communication Channels define the necessary technical communication details for messages (associated adapter type, transport / message protocols, login info for receivers, etc). A Communication Channel can be defined / used for either inbound (from a sender) or outbound processing (from a receiver). It is also where the related adapter type is configured and indicates to the Integration server how to transform the message from the sender so it can be processed by the receiver (whether a system or the Integration Server). It is here that all the different sender / receiver Communication Channels for a given service are identified.

Hi rohit,
Communicaiton channel specifies the transport mechanisam for a message for instance the adapter type and adapter cofiguration parameters.
You must assign the communication channel to the service depending on the sender or receiver.
Sender Communicaiton Channel:Defines how an adapter transforms a message so that it can be processed by the Integration Engine during inbound processing.A sender channel containes the configuraiton data for sender adapter.
Receiver Communication Channel:Defines how an adapter transforsms a message so that it can be processed by the receiver during the outbound processing.A receiver channel containes the configuariton data for the receiver adapter.
Please let me know if you have any queries..!
Thanks and Regards,
Chandu

HI,
The Communication Channel is to define type and configuration of the Adapter used during inbound and outbound processing.A communication channel also contains additional details about message exchange, for example, which identification scheme to use to identify the communication party.
Defines the rules for handling messages during inbound or outbound processing
Sender channel
Defines how an adapter transforms a message so that it can be processed by the Integration Engine during inbound processing. A sender channel contains the configuration data for a sender adapter.
Receiver channel
Defines how an adapter transforms a message so that it can be processed by the receiver during outbound processing. A receiver channel contains the configuration data for a receiver adapter.
