Different version of NW apps server in same landscape

Hi,

We would like to know more as if we have 1 landscape environment in a VM, can we have different version of NW in the same landscape. Basically it is a VM environment whereby we have dedicated DB server and all the apps server is pointing to the DB. Understood that if we need more apps server instead of Java or ABAP stack, it can just add in a VM but what if I would like to have 1 NW 7.0 Java stack, 1 NW 7.4 Java stack, 1 NW 7.0 ABAP stack and 1 NW 7.4 ABAP stack in the same landscape and all the server in connecting to DB server and a SAP Central Instance.

Thanks.

Hello Adrian,

The landscape restrictions are not so strict, so it is possible to have different NW releases and versions in a landscape. Your landscape is basically your (or a company's) SAP environment. They are not necessarily dependent on each other if there is no connection between them.

However if we are talking about a track landscape (DEV -> CONS -> TEST -> PROD) the NW AS versions have to match, of course. Even the SP and patch level must be the same.

So all depends on the relation between the application servers. They can point to the same DB, as they all have different SIDs and they are separated within the DB in separate schemas and table spaces.

But a certain release of Central Instace (SCS) can only work with the same release of dialog instances.

Regards,

Peter
