Upgrade system to ehp7 and Migrate to Unicode

Hi

We have just completed a os/db. migration from Sun Solaris to Red hat. on oracle a couple of months ago

Client want us to now move From Ecc6.0 to EHp7 and convert to Unicode.

Looking for a detail migration plan with downtimes . Going to use the CUUC ( combined upgrade and  Unicode coversion method which will minimize downtime and use migration monitor using parallel export/import

Have anyone of you such a plan or can point me in the right direction

you can find the Unicode Conversion guides attached to note #928729.

Furthermore you need the Upgrade Guide to EHP7 (http://service.sap.com/swdc) and the System Copy Guide (http://service.sap.com/swdc).

When the system is going to be in Downtime is mentioned in the guides. How long this will take depends on the size of your system, the hardware and the maintained parameter.

As many factors influence the runtimes it is very difficult to predict these for specific customers! Note #857081 gives a rough estimation.

Available Options for downtime optimization are:

• Hardware tuning (e.g. Additional CPUs, I/O Tuning...)
• Use additional (new) server for the Unicode system
• Database tuning (see note #936441)
• R3Load package split (see System Copy Guide)
• Table split (see note #952514)
• Migration Monitor (See note #784118)
• Distribution Monitor (See note #855772)
• Export: Unsorted export of transparent tables (see note #954268)
• Import: R3load option "Fastload" (See note #864861)
• Minimized Downtime Service (MDS) (See Note #693168)

Nevertheless a Test conversion will give you the best downtime estimation.
