I work at DTE Energy in Detroit and we have an application running on PowerBuilder 7 with Oracle 8.0.6 as the database. Can we convert the database to Oracle 11? Will the application still work or do we have to upgrade to a newer version of PowerBuilder.
Thanks
Mike St. Onge
As far as the he application itself it should work fine. It will continue to use 8 features, which 11 will still support.
The Oracle client layer may be an issue though. The oldest thing we're still using is PowerBuilder 9. It has a driver for Oracle 9 that works fine with Oracle 10 and Oracle 11.
I don't know that the Oracle 8 client layer will support 11, so you'll likely have to upgrade the Oracle client layer.
