Hello Exeperts,
While installing New GUI 7.40 Net weaver 5.0 is activation is required?
If it is not activated what are nagetive impacts?
If it is activated what is the advantages? Any body can share your inputs.
Regards,
Nivas.
Hi Nivas,
when you decide to install both SAPGui 7.40 and NWBC 5.0, the existing config Files (saplgon.ini, sapmsg.ini, saproute, ini, SapLogonTree.xml) are converted to SAPUiLandscape files in .xml format (SAPUILandscape.xml, SAPUILandscapeGlobal.xml).
The advantage is, that both SAPGui 7.40 and NWBC 5.0 use the SAPUiLandscape files as common data source for connections. If a new sapgui connection is maintained via NWBC, it is also visible in SAPLogon or SAPLogonPad.
The disadvantage is, that you might have to adapt your SAPGui icons, if you use the /INI_FILE parameter for saplgpad.exe or saplogon.exe, e.g.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\saplgpad.exe" /INI_FILE=N:\MASTERSAPLOGON\mastersaplogon.in
does not work any longer.
Regards,
Bernd

7.40 GUI is compatible with ALL supported backend releases.
Sorry, your title is misleading, If you mean NWBC (Netweaver Business Client) then no, NWBC 5.0 is NOT required, you can simply leave it out of your
installation creation process.

As I mentioned, you can search for some of this information. A first stop would be in the NWBC space of SCN: http://scn.sap.com/community/netweaver-business-client
This space covers the release information for NWBC 5.0
As part of SAPGUI 7.4 install, you have the option to install NWBC at the same time. If you are allowed to install for your desktop only, you could install it and have a look around?
