Fiori implementation

Former Member

Hi,

We have configured and implemented Fiori front end on our sandbox system. We are successfully able to access various standard and custom applications through Launchpad on desktop.

We now plan to look at options to expose these apps so that one can access them outside our company network on smartphones.

Could you help list the possible implementations approaches and the steps involved.

Thank you,

Manish

Is the approach to access Fiori apps using Fiori Client outside company network without VPNing a recommended one?

Are there any limitations ( eg.. performance ) with this approach. Would security be a concern here?

Looking for valuable suggestions...

Thank you,

Manish

Hi Manish,

Your question is about notwork access. How to setup https access from public network to internal network? There are several ways based on your network environment. Please get base info from your network admin.

Thank you Masa, I was hoping that you would comment since you are the renowned expert here.

Yes, part of my query points to secure network access for which Kiran Kola already responded with SAML options.

I was looking for more insight into the approach of using Fiori client to access role based apps outside company network without VPNing.

Would you recommend this as a possible option for accessing simple apps like Time entry, Timesheet approval and few other custom apps. ( I am assuming that the Fiori client would display all apps based on user role ).

Thank you,

Manish

Hi Manish,

Please ask followings to your network admin and get basic info of your network environment.

+ Why can't we use VPN?

+ Why don't we have any proxy server which gives https access from public network to internal network?

+ Why don't we use HANA Cloud Platform mobile service?

Dear Manish,

You may consider below options...

Assign a Public IP to your fiori server (BASIS consultants will do...) in order to access from Outside the co-operate network.

Once that is configured you can access from any Mobile / Webbrowser using the URL.

If you are Using android phone , there is an App for Fiori available at Google Play...

Thanks

Hi Manish,

To expose your Fiori applications, you have two options:

1. Apache server

2. SAP Web dispatcher

see following links for more information:

SAP Web dispatcher for Fiori:

Hi Manish,

Look at SAP Mobile Secure - Mobile Secure | Mobile Solutions | SAP

Hope this helps.

Thank you Kedar, this looks like a product on top of another product. As I had mentioned, we have configured and implemented Fiori and its components. We are able to access these custom/standard apps via the launchpad.

We now look forward to taking this a step further and access these from outside our company network.

I have seen the SAP Fiori client on Apple store. I am trying to fix the certificate error that many users have mentioned in various posts.

Could this be a potential solution to access role based apps once the Fiori URL is exposed outside company network?

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly helpful.

Thank you,

Manish

Are you trying to access the Fiori apps via Fiori Client with/without VPNing into company network?

If you are VPNing into company network then i think Fiori Client is best option.

No, as I mentioned, the user should be able to access these apps on smartphones without VPNing.

So for this scenario, is the Fiori client not a recommended approach?

Thank you,

Manish
