Patching the oracle

Former Member

Hello! I am trying to patch oracle 11.2.0.3.0 with opatch.

I downloaded 2 files - OPATCHP_5-20010497.ZIP and SAP11203P_1411-20009981.ZIP.

Also I unziped OPATCHP_5-20010497.ZIP into old 11203/OPatch.

What I should do with SAP11203P_1411-20009981.ZIP to install all patches from this archive instead of using

/opatch apply </OPatch/SBP_1120312_201411/19493736/13923374/> for each bugfix ? There is so many bugfixes:

19493736/    9458152/     9584028/     9656644/     MOPatch/     OPatch/      README.html*

and into 19493736/ :

13343438  13696216  13923374  14275605  14727310  16056266  16619892  16902043  17540582  18523757  18878603  19493736  README.html

MODERATOR: Next time take time to read the README.html file that comes with the bundle patch.

Hi

You need to update both MOpatch & Opatch

unzip /tmp/Ora_Patch/OPATCHP_1-20010777.ZIP -d /oracle/<SID>/112_64

unzip /tmp/Ora_Patch/MOPATCHP_1-20010777.ZIP -d /oracle/<SID>/112_64

Then you can apply the bundle patch

$ORACLE_HOME/MOPatch/mopatch.sh -v -s /tmp/Ora_Patch/SAP11204P_1402-20010778.ZIP

But I see that the version of Oracle still 11.2.0.3.0 in sap gui > system > status

Watch out, system status is not the best place for checking Oracle version and patch

You should instead check in DB02 (performance / Add functions / Bundle patches)

or at OS level => $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory -all | grep "Patch Set"

Hi,

Please do not forget to perform the post installation steps described in the README. Please also refer to SAP note #1696147 - "How to determine the list of Oracle patches or SAP Bundle Patches (SBP) that are installed in SAP system".

This will not show you the version of the bundle patch installed on the system.

You need to run $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory as ora<SID> to see that.

Make sure you run the catsbp.sql after installing the SBP package and after that query the dba_registry_history to see the version details.

Cheers

Hi,

Please review the SBP readme file and ensure that all post scripts/steps were executed sucessfully (catsbp.sql etc.). Please also refer to SAP notes:

1899453 - "dba_registry_history does not record SBP installed"

1696147 - "How to determine the list of Oracle patches or SAP Bundle Patches (SBP) that are installed in SAP system".

I found the proper readme file and executed

$ cd $OHRDBMS
$ env ORACLE_HOME=$OHRDBMS $OHRDBMS/bin/sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL> @sapbundle/SBP_1120312_201411/catsbp.sql
SQL> quit

Now dba_history contains:

SQL> select * from dba_registry_history;
