Hello!
Our system is currently running on 32-bit windows server. We have planned these changes:
* Change from 6.40 (32-bit) to 6.50 (64-bit)
* Upgrade MaxDB from version 7.6 to version 7.9
* Move from windows server 2003 to 2008
Do you guys have a suggestion for a suitable strategy for achieving this? We were initially thinking about doing the database upgrade first, then performing a system copy before upgrading to version 6.50 on the new win 2008 server. However we discovered that we also need an additional step where we go from 32-bit to 64-bit.
Please advise! Thanks.
M.
Take a full backup of the database (MaxDB) on the source system.
Set up the target server on Windows 2008
Install SAP Content Server 6.50 on the target system.
Restore the backup taken on the source system to the target system.
Reconfigure the content repositories in Tx OAC0 and check Tx CSADMIN

I have done a backup and restore of a MaxDB system from 7.6 to 7.8 and it worked and it was done based on the recommendation given in the SAP note.
You can import backups of a 32-bit system on a 64-bit system and vice versa.

hello experts,
we're planning to perform the content server migration 6.50 (from windows server 2008 R2) to windows server 2019. And the content server is filebased and there is no database.
i haven't found anything in SAP markplace.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Moye,
Hope you are doing good.
If I am not wrong, Microsoft does not support the upgrade of a Windows operating system if any software - including SAP software - is installed that is not part of the Windows operating system itself.
Hence you can, but it is not supported : the upgrade from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008.
Please also have a look at:

In case you met any critical problem during the system copy please create message to BC-INS-MIG.

Hi Moye,
The SAP note 514500 - Importing Support Packages for the SAP Content Server is the one you need to follow to update the Content Server to 6.50
