Device Migration between Afaria 7

Hi

I'm wondering if I can Migrate devices between AFARIA servers (environments) without the need of re-enroll those devices? Can this be done??? How can this be done? Through DB migration or export import of device's list?

Hi, Mariana.

Device migration between systems isn't officially supported outside of re-enrolling.  The data exists in the database and it's possible that you could potentially copy the required data from one database and import it into another.  However, the devices would also need to be updated to point to the new server.  For Android, this could be done using a configuration policy.  However, for iOS the MDM Config Payload has the MDM URL embedded into the payload.  So it can't be changed without removing it and re-enrolling.  Windows Phone, similarly, would require a re-enrollment to point the device to the new system.
