Significance of shipping type in sales order

Hi Friends,

What is the significance of Shipping type in Sales order? . Is the shipping type determined in the sales order communicated to transporter..? Is based on the shipping type transporter decides how to deliver the goods to the customer ? Please help me to understand this.

Hi Sandeep,

     The field Shipping Type signifies whether the shipment will be by road or air or other means of transport. Shipping Type is selected for the transportation of the goods for the shipment legs.

If you are not maintaining the Shipments legs then you need not provide any input here.

You can configure Shipping Type through the following path :

IMG - LE - Shipping - Basic Shipping Functions - Routes - Define Routes - Define Shipping Types
