Object dependencies in routing, class 001

Hello group,

We want to influence the routing machine time based on material classification.

These are not configurable materials / material variants, only plain materials classified with class type 001.

So for example there is a material characteristic "number of holes", and the machine time should be 5 minutes per hole.

This is MTS production. There are not that many variants so we wanted to avoid the complexity of variant configuration (creating configurable materials and material variants), but we also don't want to have different routings just to have the different machine time according to the number of holes.

Is it technically possible to create object dependencies in the routing operations, considering only the classification in class type 001?

After some tests, the conclusions were:

  - for configurable materials with both 001 and 300 classes, we managed to use in the operation object dependencies the values of characteristics from class 300, but not the ones from class 001;

  - for non-configurable materials / variants, the object dependency doesn't even seem to be triggered.

Anything we are missing or would we really have to go to class 300 and VC?

Thank you for any help.

Rui Pedro Dantas,

You test proves correct result, for a configurable routing with object dependencies you need to setup variant configuration.

Thank you Ritesh for the confirmation.

Meanwhile, further documentation in case others find it useful:

Dependencies in LO-VC (variant configuration, so e..g. class 300) can be used to:

  • Describe the interdependencies between characteristics and characteristic values
  • Control which components are selected from a bill of material (BOM) and which operations are selected from a task list
  • Change the values of fields in BOM items and operations during configuration

Dependencies in CA-CL (classification, so e.g. class 100) can be used only as an aid to entry for classifying objects. Can be assigned only to characteristics or characteristic values.
