Hi kiran,

Go to material master and check the serial number profile there in plant data/storage 2 view.

Now go to OIS2 transaction, here select the serial number profile in material master and double click on serializing procedures , in that check procedure maintain returns deliver, the serial number usage must be 2,3 or 4

I checked serial number Usage for return it maintained as 02 (optional).
