Hello Team,
I would like to know what is the basic requirement to know SAP Project and Portfolio management module whether it requires knowledge of
technical things like ABAP,webdynpro or workflow also.
I am a functional consultant consultant currently looking into SAP PS/PM area.
Require a proper guidance as need to implement the same in one project.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Karan
Hi Karan,
As a functional consultant you should know the following
1. PPM Components - Portfolio / Project Management/ Resource Management. what is a Bucket, item, Initiative as part of Portfolio.. from PM - the project structure - the Phases, tasks checklists etc.. from RM how it integrates with HCM for master data..
2. Integration Points between PPM and PS ( here you need to define which will be the source system and which will be the target system).
3. Important tables in PPM..
if you are planning to integrate the PPM Project with PS project you should be careful @ the Coding Mask being used in PS, the status sync, Operational Indicators being activated by creating project from PPM..
On a high level this is what you need..

Sammar

Hi Karan,
If you know ABAP it is an advantage but its not a must.. It holds true for PS or any other module as well..
To know more about PPM SAP help is the best place.. PPM 6.1 is also available now for the customers so you can learn more @ the new features which are being introduced as part of PPM 6.1..

Hi Karan,
you can find the key education items for SAP Portfolio and Project Management by looking at http://education.sap.com. Here is the search page for you:
https://training1.sap.com/shop/sap-search?q=%22portfolio+and+project+management%22
The courses PLM510 and PLM 550 cover Project Management respectively Portfolio Management.
Then, you have the consultant certification course which is C_TPLM50_95.
On top of that, you have the OKP (Online Knowledge Product) for PPM 6.0. These are all the RKT materials produced for ramp-up of that release. Earlier ones are of course also available.
Since PPM many times integrates into PS in ERP, knowledge of PS can also be very helpful. There are dedicated courses for this area, PLM200 , PLM210, PLM 220, PLM 230, which you can find also there.
Hope this helps. Please close this thread if yes.
Regards, Ulf.
