Technical Monitoring - Check Availability of BO-System

Hi experts,

in technical monitoring I would like to check the availability of our BO-System.

There are a lot of metrics, however all metrics stay grey.

Reason, that there is no data-collector registered for Introscope.

I've connected the BO to Solman based on SAP-guide, however something seems to be missing.

Does anybody know, how I can go on there?
In solman_setup->managed system configuration, I have not maintanied CMS-paramters, as I don't know where I can find them.
May this be the reason?

I did the setup based on this wiki-entry.

But one question, is it possible to monitor only the availability, without Wily?

Because at the moment we haven't set up willy introscope.

thx again for your support.

I've checked both notes.

At the 1st note I've checked 1 and 2 - 3 is again using Wily as pre-request.

Second note I've already checked.

I only would like to have a kind of availability check (maybe http), just to know if it is running or not.

And at the moment we are not using CA Wily Introscope.

Therefore my question, if it is possible to do it without Wily?

Hi Christian,

I guess WILY is a must for this.
The steps for integrating WILY is part of the prerequisites. As of Solution Manager 7.0 EHP 1: In the "Managed System Configuration" you execute the step "Wily Introscope Configuration" and the manual activity "Configure Wily Introscope Agent". For Solution Manager 7.0 SP 15-17: Select  Transaction SOLMAN_SETUP. Select Diagnostics Setup -> Managed Systems -> Introscope Agent.

I got you, however till now I've assigned around 30 systems, all categories, without help of Wily and all checks are running fine.

Excepting the BO stuff now, maybe this is the limit.

But as I only want to monitor the availability of the sysetm at the moment, I did hope there is another way.

I've found a way to get BO pinged via URL.
I use http://<bo host>:6405/biprws/logon/long

Just to see, is it available or not.

And this works fine.

Hi Aron

We are facing the same issue. we dont want to install wily introscope agent on BO as we are only monitoring services availability.

Can you please tell us if it is possible to monitor without installing introscope agent in BO

Hello Venkata,

Introscope is NOT REQUIRED for BI/ Job Monitoring.

The Managed System setup has to be performed properly. Please refer the below blog for the MS Setup

The Remote OS Properties is also important for your agent (in SMD Agent Administration (protocol://host:port/ /webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tc~smd~server~agent~admin/SMDAgentAdminApplication)

Once you are done with the aforementioned, please restart the agent from SMD Agent Administration. This would solve the problem.

PS: Make sure the latest version of LM-SERVICE is installed

We have solved this, by just monitoring the availabilty of the system, by checking the if BO URLs are reachable or not.

Is there realy no possibility, to get a simple http page out of BO-system?
If the page is reachable BO is running and if not not?

At the moment, I only found pages which always brings me to launch-pad, but this seems to be depending on TomCat.

I would suggest to register to EGI session for BO monitoring from solman.

Sounds good, I will check.

However, you know, at the moment I only want a simple check in Solution Manager System Monitoring, which gives the answer if BO is working or not.
