Hi Everyone,
I would like to know the advantage and risk involved in TDMS4.0 BPL.
Thanks
Pradeep
Hello Pradeep,
TDMS BPL scenarios has many advantages. Just to highlight few important ones -
1. Ready to use standard BPL objects for transfer of Master Data / Transactional Data / Business process related data for several SAP application areas.
2. Flexibility to create your own business objects using the BPL modeler .
You can also copy a standard BPL object and enchacne the same as per your requirement.
3. Will only do selective deletion in the receiver system.
4. Easy and fast approach to transfer small amount of application specific data for testing purpose.
5. Option to also define scrambling rules to the BPL copy process.
You must check the BPL guide for more details - link https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/tdms.
As such there are no risks involved here, as it does not delete complete contents but only specific data.
But as a word of precaution, you should take care to consult your functional team on exactly what kind of data they require and then identifying a correct BPL object for the same..
Thanks,
Rajesh

Hi Pradeep,
Thanks for your thoughts.
It should be surely helpful for other users trying to get some information on TDMS BPL scenario in this forum.
Just as an information, TDMS will already provide you information on the number range objects
used by the BPL object in the current TDMS package. This is available with the activity
'View Number Range Details'.
May be you had missed to leverage the same!
Thanks,
Rajesh
Hello Pradeep,
It depends on your requirement. If you want to transfer only small amount of data for some specific business objects then it would make sense to use BPL as BPL is very fast. Another thing to consider is that BPL will delete only that data from target system which it is going to transfer. You can also use BPL to copy set of Z tables, so as I said it depend on your requirements.
Thanks
Anita
