Why the doc info record is is linked to the Material master, Bom Header and PRT? Is it for the specific end-users to view the supporting documents required for the order execution? Let’s say drawings and process plan doc attached would be required for the production dep’t. Material List doc required for the planning and procurement dep’t. Inspection sheet required by Inspection Dep’t? What is the the significance of the doc info record within the object link?

Hi Paddy,

If you want to link an object to a DIR in CV01N or CV02N for example

it is necessary that the relevant object in maintained for this

document type. To do this, please go to transaction DC10 and

select the specific document type. Under "Define object links" you can

maintain all the desired object which should be linked to documents

of this document type.

To receive the correct dynpro numbers I would recommend you to

maintain the object under

transaction SPRO

> Cross-Application-Component

> Document Management

> Control Data

> Define screen for object links

If you need the dynpro number or object you will find all standard SAP

objects and their screen number in function module CV130 (Screens) by

transaction SE80. Please maintain all necessary SAP objects.

To grant that always the current screens and authorizations were

called please maintain also the value "1" into the "Authorization"

column. For further information on this maintenance please see the

attached note 375452. It's important that you not enter the mentioned

screen number without the leading "1" as this number is added

automatically by the system (e.g. object MARA 1201 maintain like MARA

201).

Afterwards you should be able to link DIRs and objects together.

Best regards,

Christoph

Hey Rehman/Christoph,

Your answers were useful and points awarded to you both.

I understood the linking of object eg-Material Master to the doc info record and then the original file eg-CAD file to the doc info record. But then I am not sure how to link the Dir eg-Dir containing CAD files to the doc info record. Can you guys please elaborate on this. You can email me on saplogster@gmail.com.

Regards,

Paddy

As of my understanding Dir stands for Doc. Info Record. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Paddy,

Yes you are correct, you can link DIR to any of the other SAP Objects like Material master, BOM (header/item) etc, The DIR can be used in many scenarios,

for example you can use this for STATUS MANAGEMENT of the Material Master, BOM also, for Reporting purpose, and for linking Originals (CAD Drawings) to various objects(MM,BOM,Prd Or, Pur Or etc),

It depends on your scenario and usability, but your understanding of DIR linking to objects is also correct, purpose is same.

Regards

Rehman
