BPM work item locked

Hello,

We use the standard SAP CIS UK interface to send a report to HMRC. It uses BPM to send the report, and then poll to see if it has been processed.

Last month it timed out because we hadn't scheduled the required background jobs in SWU3 after a system upgrade.

This month it timed out when a payload was empty on one of the mapping steps. It looks like the source message exists, so I'm wondering if a warning from the previous step is the cause of the problem:'Work item 000000113404 locked: Terminate later'.

When run the BPE self-test in Component Monitor it reports that 'Schedule background job for clearing report not scheduled'. According to SWU3 this only clears down logs so it might be irrelevant.

I tried running 'Perform Automatic Customizing' again but I just get a message to say this has already been done.

Which version of SAP PI are you using?

We are using PI 7.4. I can't find any relevant SAP notes for this version.

There is nothing queued in SMQ1 or SMQ2.

Nothing in ST21 and no locks in SM12.

Have you checked SQM1 and SMQ2 queues if there is any message stuck?

Plz check also T-Code :ST21 ABAP dump and  T-Code :SM12 to check and delete lock entries in ECC.
