Which way is best to connect .NET with SAP system?

We have a requirement where client has a website and they want to create sales order in SAP if a order has been placed through website.

So which way is better to connect :

1) Web service

   OR

2) Connectors

and why is it better ? Also please share steps on how to connect both .NET and SAP in detail.
