Upgrade Solution Manager 7.0 to 7.1

Hi All

I have a problem in SOLMAN_SETUP in Basic Configuration on Step 6 - Configure Automatically.

The step is "Activate BW content for RCA"

I get Error in the log without any explanation or anything in the  Long Text /Details/ Url

Meanwhile in SM37 I see a task SMSETUP: DIAG_SM_BI_SETUP running, but it runs for 1 hour and stops

It seems it dows not do anything, becasue I don't see any interesting activity in SM66.

In the step documentation it is written that it will start CCMS_BI_SETUP - but I can't see such a task.

What is that Error? How can I diagnose it?

I fixed the problem.

You have to check transaction RSA1 / Source Systems, right-click - Check.

It gives me an error in the RFC connection.

In SM59 I altered the RFC to use the current user (it was set to some old user)

I think here is the place to put some more notes about the case. It might be helpfull to somebody.

Actualy the first step in SOLMAN_SETUP  - "Activate BW Source System" is not OK although the status is green! (It also relies on that RFC I mentioned above)

If you run transaction rstco_admin for yourself you will see that the status is red.

There are errors in the log such as:

Characteristic 0REQ_LDATE: Referenced characteristic 0DATE not (actively) available

Characteristic 0REQ_CDATE: Referenced characteristic 0DATE not (actively) available

Characteristic 0TCAVALID: Referenced characteristic 0DATE not (actively) available

To solve this use transaction RSD5, choose "Chracteristic" and put 0DATE in the field.

Then choose Activate.

After that try rstco_admin - everything is green for me this time!

What is the status of the background job ?

Have you checked the logs ?

The backround jobs just say in the log that it is started, and stays like that for 1 hour, here is the log

Try to re-login and go back to same workcenter screen to check results as the job is finished.

I tried, it stays red. I started the job several times, it works exactly 1 hour, it is some timeout.

There is a message , if I wait 1 hour, "BW Content Activation has not been finished yet" but nothing is running in the system.
