Hello,

Can we connect SAP Web Dispatcher to Multiple Java AS ? Or Is it limited to one web dispatcher to One Cluster of Java AS ? We have a requirement to connect to multiple Cluster's of Java AS( XI Java AS Cluster , Portal Java AS Cluster & BI Portal Java AS Cluster ) ? Let me know whether anyone has similar requirement and how did they configured ?

Thanks in Advance

Navaneeth

Hi,

rather than answering your mail I prefer posting here, so that all users are provided with the knowledge...

I just looked up <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/740234">SAP note 740234</a> which was in former times not available to customers.

So you now can cascade Web Dispatchers if you want to distribute requests to several SAP systems.

Follow the note's instruction.

And this should also apply when you use web dispatcher as reverse proxy only.

Sascha

Thanks Sascha.

I have read the oss note on cascading of Web Dispatchers for Load Balancing of different sap systems , But if you are using SAP web dispatcher for Reverse proxy only to multiple sap systems ( PI, BI & Portals) , do you still need cascading of web dispatchers or Central dispatcher is enough ?

Thanks,

Navaneeth Jalagam

Hi,

also when using reverse proxy you need one web dispatcher for each system.

One web dispatcher for several systems will not work.

This is what I wanted to say above.

In your case you will need several web dispatchers.

Sascha

Hi,

the linked SDM blog has nothing to do with Web Dispatcher, or am I wrong?

In the moment (the newest release) one SAP Web Dispatcher can only connect to one SAP System.

Of course the one SAP System can have several instances.

You also can connect several Web Dispatchers to one SAP System.

So in your case you need for each system (e.g. portal, PI, BI) at least one SAP Web Dispatcher. Of course all these Web Dispatchers can run on the same host.

Regards,

Sascha

p.s.: in SAP Education class ADM102 we talk about SAP Web Dispatcher.

Hi Navaneeth,

Yes it is possible for a single SAP Web Dispatcher to connect to multi Java AS.

Hope your first question is answered.

As for the configuration i am missing a few steps of it as of now.

Will reply here in a few minutes. Hope so.

Reward points for the first answer.
