TSM ::: the object expiration

Hi,

we have just installed IBM Tivoli as backup solution. It works fine but we have a question.

The TSM objects expiration, must it be done by sp_deletesmobj? or, must be done by TSM policy?

Hi Ganimeda,

sp_deletesmobj is used for deleting specified backup objects from the TSM.

TSM policy requires some API calls which has the constructs for:

• Policy domain

• Policy set

• Management class

• Copy group – defines the expiration or rete

Hi,

IBM tell us that to delete old o expired backup session we must use sp_deletesmobj... so it's so unnice becase from DBACOCKPIT I know that is not possibile to set variable as getdata() - 7 days or any other like that.

I don't know how I can delete oldest backup.
