Install PB12.6 trial version on existing PC with PB12.5 ?

Hi,

We are already using PB12.5.2 Build 5583.

We want to download the trial version of PB12.6. Can we install this trial version on the same PC where PB12.5.2 is already running? Will both PB work without problem in a single PC?

Thanks,

Mazibar

Hi Mazibar;

  You most certainly can!

FYI: I am running PB versions 11.5.1, 12.1, 12.5.1 and 12.6 on the same development PC. For the 12.x series - that also includes multiple PB.Net versions well

You can.  PowerBuilder major versions are largely compatible with one another.  About the only issue is that some of the third party files (e.g., libjcc.dll) are shared, and later versions of PB include later versions of those files that may include additional dependencies.  That gets a bit confusing when the docs for the earlier version of PB don't include those new dependencies for deployment.

However, I've gotten to the point that anytime I'm evaluating new software I just put it on a new VirtualBox virtual machine.  You don't to worry about uninstalling it later, you just do a refresh on that image.
