Hi Jagadish r:
I will try to explain you what happens normally on a garnishment.
They can be Pre or Post taxes, it depends of the resolution of the judge.
When it exists a divorce or legal complain about the expenses incurred on a child, it´s possible to go to a legal instance a ask for a kind of periodical money to support the child for food, clothes, school, etc.
Normally, the Garnishment is required to the father of the children, however, it´s possible that occurs for a women, but it´s very strange to have this kind of escenarios.
When the judge takes the decision, this document is sent to the father, and he has to follow the judge´s order and give the amount of money to the mother or the person that is legally in custody of the children or childrens.
The order of the judge could include: Basic Salary, Overtime, Premiums, Bonuses, etc., and this order can be before or after taxes calculation, it depends of the judge´s decision.
The Garnishment calculation could be in a % or fixed amount.
I hope this explanation is helpful fopr you.
