No of Items in a Order unit of measure "Box" in Material Master

Hello All,

We have requirement to store and search information on "No. of items" in the Unit of measure "Box". This information is should be searchable and printed in PO and Good receipts

For e.g:  We have one material master record for e.g: Couplings . The Purchase unit of measure is "Box". When the material is procured it comes in Box of different number of couplings in the Box. For e.g.:  Some vendors supply Box of 25 couplings, some supply Box of 50, Box of 100 so and so forth.

The difference in number of items in box may differ for different Vendors for e.g. Vendor A supplies in Box of 25 and Vendor B supplier Box of 50.

Or, the difference in number of items in box could also differ due to region/plant  where the procurement is done. For e.g. In US it is supplied in Box of 25, but in China, it is supplied in Box of 50

Questions:

Where should we store this information on "number of items" in the Box i.e. 25, 50 and 100 in Material Master? Is there a standard field in Material Master or we should create a custom field to store this information  at Plant level. This should information should be searchable and printed on PO and Goods receipt?

Should we create a different material numbers based on the number of items in a Box. For e.g one material for Coupling with Box of 25 and other material for Coupling with Box of 50?

Request your advise on how to approach the solution for this requirement.

Thanks

Thomas
