Im running the PAL Binning algorithm and it is working as expected ... almost
The bin numbers 'created' by the alogrithm into which the datapoints are assigned are 2 & 3. I could live with this, but it would be easier (and makes more sense to me) if the first bin would always be 1. Hence, instead of 2 & 3 the bins would be 1 & 2.
Is there an explanation for this behaviour?
System info: HANA SP8 Rev 81
Thanx in advance.
Hi there,
Can you share more information on what lead to bins 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2 please? I created a chain by added HANA Binning component to a simple (Iris) dataset and configured it to generate two bins and got 1 and 2 as a result.
It'll help if you could share how you configured the binning node in the chain to start with and what version of PA you are using.
Thanks,
Jayant

Hi,
If I set the BIN_DISTANCE to 1, which isn't applicable for the BINNING_METHOD chosen here, the bin numbers start at 1.
However, it looks like you are using the binning function directly in HANA and therefore I'd recommend you raise you query in the HANA (AFL PAL) forum since not all these features are exposed in Predictive Analysis.
Regards,
Jayant
