Solution Manager 3.2 & SLD

Hello everbody,

i installed Solution Manager 3.2 Abap System. I also want to use SDL. I have read different Guides but i cannot configure SDL. In some Posts in this Forum the people write something about J2EE Visual Administrator. But this Tool isn't installed on my System.

My Question: Is it even possible to use SDL with Solution Manager 3.2 Abap System? Or do i have to install an Java System? And if it's possible, where do i get the J2EE Visual Adminstrator?

Hope you can help me.

Oliver

If you have installed Solution Manager 3.2 in one system

and your SLD in another system the process for

configuring Solution Manager is documented in the IMG.

The instructions guide you through the process one step

at a time in a relatively accessible fashion.

I have found that the process flowed very smoothly until

it came time to actually connect SM to SLD. The

connection parameters keep talking about hosts and

services but are not completely clear when the host is

the SM host or the SLD host and when the service is the

traditional sapgw<SID> service or the J2EE 5nn00

service.

The J2EE visual administrator is on your SLD system

(assuming you have installed SLD on a J2EE or ABAP plus

J2EE system). If you are using a UNIX platform, the

application requires an X-terminal (emulator) and the

DISPLAY variable set before you launch

"/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nn>/j2ee/admin/go".

There is a very helpful link on SDN (search for

'SLD AND "Solution Manager"') - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/78/20244134a56532e10000000a1550b0/content.htm

Hope this is helpful.

Hello Oliver,

as far as i know the SLD is based on JAVA. So you need to run the SLD on a JAVA system. And then you have the J2EE Visual Administrator.

Hi,

Solution Manager can connect to an SLD (System landscape Directory) in a landscape to figure out the list of systems used in the landscape.

There is another option, if you don't want to use the SLD, you may configure systems manually.

The SLD that it is asking for maybe residing on one of the WAS systems in your landscape. You need to make it point to that system for the SLD config.
