pga_aggregate_target and DB_CACHE_SIZE

Hello everyone,

There's some database dump occurred after I upgrade our database to I searched the relevant solution from internet and find the note 1431798 - Oracle 11.2.0: Database Parameter Settings which is recommended by SAP.

But I still confused about the parameter DB_CACHE_SIZE and pga_aggregate_target.

  1. 1. Regarding DB_CACHE_SIZE, I read the note 789011 and 617416 it suggested. I still didn't quite get it about how to calculate the value. would you please help me out?

  1. 2. Regarding pga_aggregate_target, it said OLTP: 20% of available memory. our physical memory is 49140MB. So the value would be 49140*20%=9828M.

The current value is only 650M. Is it a little bigger for us? Sorry for my concern. It is our productive system. I have to be cautious and avoid any potential risk.

I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you in advance!

OS: windows server 2008 SP2 64bit

SAP: ECC6.0 EHP6 with cluster environment.

Database: oracle

Physical memory: 49140MB for each note.

If you need more information, please feel free to let me know.
