Hi All,
I'm Planning to take up SuccessFactors Training and Certification at my own cost(as independent participant). Is there anyone who has undergone SuccessFactors training & certification as independent participants? Please let me know as I have few queries to be clarified.
Thanks & regards,
Hari
There are LOTS of blogs and threads about this here. It has been discussed fairly in-depth, but I think you will find that is probably the most approachable one with EXACTLY the background you have in common. He is/was an independent that took SF on all by his on....and that launched 1000+ blogs and post to follow (haha). I am sure he will chime in here as I just lit up the Batman spotlight.
That said, I would ask you....what is your end (or "near" end) goal with this? I mean...as an independent taking the training for certification, are you doing so merely to better position yourself with a consulting company/SF partner to be hired on (ie. they would not have to pay to train/cert you up)? That position....I could see....but it is a lot of money out of your own pocket versus joining a consulting company and letting them send you through it. But on the other side....are you doing so in hopes of landing independent SF work? That position/goal is a whole other path to travel that is riddled with obstacles and trials all along the way....and likely near impossible at this time. In a nutshell, the SF (SaaS) space is just not "independent friendly" at the moment.
So I guess....as I said....my question back to you before all your questions.....why as an independent do you want to take the SF certification?

Thanks Chris and some great insights and everything you said is spot on.
Last week Luke Marson, Jon Reed and I recorded this two part series that I would recommend to anyone considering making the jump from SAP HCM to SuccessFactors including certification or OnPremise to Cloud based consulting. We also talk about what customers should be on the lookout for.

For those of you who like to read here is an article that outlines the content in the first video shown above.

Would love to get everyones thoughts and continue the dialog.
Thanks Chris!!! I'm Planning to make a switch to SuccessFactors cloud consulting. There are only tow ways as you have mentioned 1) Splash the cash, get certified, and position myself better so that partnering companies can take me and get the work done. 2) Get hired by partner comps and they will take care of the rest in providing training and certification.
What I feel is, my chances of moving to SuccessFactors cloud is slightly higher in first case than in the second one.
G.Hari...good luck with the path you choose! Another consideration also.....not sure how it is where ever you are but in the US, there is a bit of a glut of SF trained/certified consultants with little/no experience. A lot of the "big name" firms trained up armies of consultants but there are only so many projects to go around and projects no longer require "armies" to implement. Keep this in mind as well. Again,J. Pazahanick and others like can probably give you better advice. I am not trying to dissuade you.....just set expectations appropriately.
Dear Hari,
Good Day!
My name is Rizwan,8 years of SAP HCM experience .
I work mostly on Talent Management Areas.
I would like to do my Success Factors certification.I dont work with SF partner company.I work for a CMM level 3 company called Kaar Technologies, a middle east SAP projects specialised company.
I have selected country as Germany and opted for the Subscription to Cloud Solution CER0006,paid the transaction amount 500ponds, but still it is in progress and didn't get any confirmation yet. do members working outside partner companies allowed to take SF certification?
Regards
Rizwan S
