What is batch management

What is batch management and how is it useful in the process.

Could any one, please explain the need for Batch management .

Is it mainly for chemical,pharmaceutical companies or say the company that holds the WM for liquid based products.

Please give me a short over view,as the WH in which iam  currently supporting does not have batch management.

Ford doesnt have any Warehouse with batch management. So please help with the same

Hi Anand,

Batch is the unique number to track the product stock, as Suraj mentioned usage of Batch purely based out of type business they are doing.

batch management will be used to track the stock quantity and stock type. Mainly business widely uses batch management for VARIANTS concept.

you can add as many characteristics as you want

Check this link to get good idea. Other than this batch is used when material are sold with characteristic value and expiry date.

now in automobile batch is uesd when variant config is used. 

and food industry batch is used for expiry date and char values.

and cloth and shoes  industry size,color  is one char value.
