Dear Mates,
Can you please help on our below scenarios:
1. We have 3(100,200 & 300) clients in Receiver Systems, We are planning to migrate the data to 300 client from sender system.
Does the step " Preparation of data deletion in the receiver system" will impact the data in Other Clients (100 & 200).
I mean does it deletes the other clients data?
2. Currently We are doing a "Full Transfer of Client Specific data" from Sender(PRD300) to Receiver(QAT-300).
IF we want to run migration again after 6 months, We select the "Time Based Reduction" for the 6 months period.
Will this option copy only 6 months data and keep old data?
or Time Based Reduction will delete all old data and copy only 6 months data into Receiver client?
Please Suggest.
Thanks you,
san's.
Dear san's,
1. TDMS will only delete the data in the respective receiver client.
However there are two techniques possible for deletion -
DROP-INSERT based logic
ARRAY DELET logic.
In case DROP-INSERT is used, it will temporararily drop the tables and then put back the
data relevant for other clients. This is much faster approach.
However if you have a limitation to allow, users continuing to work in other receiver clients,
then you should not use this technique .
In either of the case, data of other clients will not be deleted.
2. Next time when you do a TDTIM copy for 6 months data , it will first delete all the existing
data in the receiver client and the transfer the new set of data .
Thanks,
Rajesh

Hi San's ,
A runtime with just data volume cannot be generalized, as it depends on multiple factors,
including system / I-O resources, system load, total physical size of sender / receiver, number of existing clients in receiver, weather other receiver clients are being used during TDMS copy, system resources available in the control system etc .. etc..............................
You will need to perform a test copy to get an idea on the time taken for your environment.
Please make sure you follow the system setting suggested in the note 890797 for best performance and runtime achievements.
I hope this should help.
Thanks,
Rajesh
